The Mayo Clinic diet was created by the weight loss experts at Mayo Clinic. It is part of a holistic lifestyle regimen that includes exercise and stress reduction.
Diet principles use a food pyramid model that emphasizes fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean meats as its foundation. Few foods are absolutely restricted. However, saturated and trans fats, refined grains, sugars, processed foods and salt are discouraged and limited.
