Fats are an essential nutrient for our body. There are different kinds of fat, some of which are thought to be healthier than others.
Trans and saturated fats are generally considered “bad” fats because they increase our risk of heart disease and stroke.
Unsaturated fats like mono- and polyunsaturated fats are generally considered “good” fats because they lower our risk of heart disease and stroke.
Still others believe that all fats should be avoided, such as those that follow diets such as Ornish or Pritikin.
