Food Allergies & Sensitivities
Food allergy is a serious medical condition. Each year, food allergies trigger about 200,000 emergency room visits. They’re also responsible for 150 to 200 annual deaths. Fifteen million Americans, including 1 in 13 schoolchildren, have food allergies – and the numbers are rising in the US and Europe.
Currently we don’t have a cure for food allergies so avoiding unsafe foods is key. If you or a loved one suffers from food allergies, letting others know is an important way to stay safe by avoiding accidental food exposures.
We designed Selectivor to help. Create a profile for yourself. Then share it with others so they’re aware of your eating needs. You can even create profiles for your children that you can manage and share. This is still a far cry from a cure, but we hope this promotes awareness and increases safety from accidental food exposures.
Finally, since food allergy is a serious issue, please be sure to double check all foods for safety before eating. Never rely solely on technology (including ours or any others) or the diligence of others to stay safe.
